Simulation and ray tracing
Ray tracing is a method for performing X-ray optics calculation and predict the performance of optical system such as synchrotron radiation beamlines, space telescopes, microscopes. The ray tracing technique performs simulations that follow the path of many light rays through every part of the optical system to understand the influence of each component. Ray tracing can be used for optimizing existing experimental setups and equipment and designing new instruments. The output from the virtual experiments is then used to produce detector images and visualize the ray path through the system of optical elements.
